Fred and Leonard sold the bar 5 years ago, but acquired the Totem back in November due to default. So much for retirement. Funny how Front Street hasn't really changed, I think that same truck is parked in front of the bar. Locals greatly miss the NBA sign, instead we have a "down south" Wells Fargo sign. I miss the McCormick's dock, lots of memories of the Princess Patricia and Prince George tour boats. Thanks for sharing your photos. My class is having their 30 year reunion this 4th of July. This brings back great memories from the 70s.

Great photographs, some are very close to those I've taken myself while living in Wrangell and during later visits back "home". I went to Wrangell as a baby after my father was released from service following WWII and I graduated in 1963 from Wrangell High School. My great-grandparents Hiram and Eleanor Campbell and grandparents, Ernest and May Campbell are buried there. My father, born in Wrangell, still resides there with his wife Lynne.
Ah the longing for the "Good ol days". I remember as a kid travelling from Seattle we would take the jet to Annette Island and transfer to the Goose or Twin Otter for the flight to Wrangell. It's kind of boring now with the jet. In fact while inspecting the photo closer, I think that is the same tractor we used in the 80's while I worked for Alaska Airlines in WRG
Actually this boat was named after me. My father Edwin Callbreath built it. I was named after Margaret Seimears. This is a wonderful site I love looking at the old photos. It brings back wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing your memories with us, Margaret Gallimore
This is actually named after the man who owned the river boats (Al Ritchie's) daughter Margaret Rose Ritchie Seimears.

Ottesesn's bought the old fire hall and adjoined the two buildings, amongst many other changes along Front St.. The old ALP mill site is now a boat haulout, the area between Benjamin's (Bob's IGA) was filled and gone is the low tide "Parfume" that permeated downtown for so many years. On that fill area is now the James and Elsie Nolan Center, a modern museum, convention hall/movie theater and the Visitor's Bureau.Though there have been many changes Wrangell is still the friendly, homey community it has always been.
thanks for the great memories, when we didn't take the ferry we use to fly the goose down to visit our grandparents, Lew and Winnie Williams, every summer.
Kadin Building built by and owned by Edward Rasmuson, Dr. Gary L. Floyd & Richard Stough and is now owned by Richard Stoughs Children. Dick and Barbara Angerman did rent under Tongass Clothing and eventually bought their store and moved after many years
I think this is actually the Kadin Bldg which was built by Dick Stough and now is owned by Mike Stough. It housed Tongass Trading Co store which became Angermans
